Because brushing your teeth is such a mindless task, it’s important to brush up on your brushing facts so you know that you are performing the best brushing technique possible. To help you do so, our dentist, Dr. Danton Bradshaw, is happy to share some important brushing facts and information.
First, remember to brush your teeth twice each day for two minutes each time. This is important because you need to frequently and thoroughly remove the plaque from your teeth and gumline. If you have a hard time remembering, set reminders for yourself and set a timer when you brush.
Second, remember to use the proper equipment when brushing. It’s recommended to brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste that have been approved by the American Dental Association. When your toothbrush bristles have frayed or when you have used your brush for 3-4 months, it’s important to replace it.
Third, remember to keep your toothbrush clean. You want to clean your smile with a clean brush, right? So, thoroughly rinse your bristles with warm water after you brush. Then, store your brush in an upright position to allow the bristles to dry. Don’t use a toothbrush cover until the brush is completely dry.
